The 2021 BPI Sale was a roaring success!!
What an excellent sale we had in 2021. The quality of goats was excellent and the demand sought out performance tested genetics. Does sold very strongly. Two good quality bucks of proven genetics sold and the Semen straws/embryos were a swift trade. Many thanks to the consignors and bidders and everyone who helped in all the many ways it takes to have a good sale.
The high selling doe was Lot 45 consigned by Jessee Farms. Kenneth and Connie produced a stand-out doe and she sold for $5300 to Brian Graves of Rocky Hill Kikos. Congratulations to both parties.

The 2019 BPI was a huge success with high Quality goats offered
The Bluegrass Performance Invitational has developed a reputation for showcasing high quality genetics tested Kiko goats, the latest information about the meat goat industry and an exciting and efficient sale. Thanks to the enthusiasm and experience of organizers, consignors, bidders and volunteers from across the U.S., the 2019 event in Frankfort KY on August 30-31 did not disappoint. The approximately 60 consignments were checked in Friday as participants enjoyed an afternoon of good fellowship and lively “goat talk”. Saturday morning’s seminars featured Don Brewer of Brewer’s Livestock, Lovett, IN, who demonstrated meat goat grading and discussed current trends in market animal pricing and carcass evaluation. Dr. Ken Andries (Kentucky State University) presented information about on-farm data collection for improved performance and profit. And, Jeff Lamote, Culman, AL announced details of the new 2020 performance test at Alcorn University in Mississippi. The auction began promptly at 1:00pm following a lunch of various offerings, featuring goat burgers provided by Brewers Livestock and the local Ruritan Organization. Doughnuts were provided by Bobby and Joe Murphy, Double M Valley Farm, Sadieville, KY. Marshal Tingle of Marshal Tingle Auctions (KY) and PJ Murphy of PJM Goats, Pittstown, NJ, did a fine job of presenting the consignments and keeping the show rolling at an exciting pace. In addition to the sale animals, three semen lots from GHK High Voltage, CGI Ringo and PJM Copyright Tough were also consigned. CCI.Live provided fast, user-friendly internet access to the sale. The high selling doe, a yearling daughter of WEB Blues Dominator out of a Titan’s Hammer daughter was consigned by Hoosier Hills Kikos, Nabb, IN and purchased by Troy Lohman of Butler IL for $3000. The idea of an auction to highlight buck performance test participants and related does and progeny grew out of the Western Maryland Forage Only Test. Jarred and Deidre Dennison, JD Ranch Kikos, Waddy, KY, established the BPI in 2014. They grew the sale until 2017 when they handed over the reins to fellow consigners Pat Larr and Betty Joubert, Hoosier Hills Kiko Goats, Nabb, IN; Jim and Angie Loos, Red Ranch Goats, Liberty, IL; PJ Murphy; and Wes and Bev Pinneo, B bar W Kikos, Kincaid, KS. All of these host farms have produced successful performance tested stock for many years and are intent on continuing the BPI with a continued focus on performance. They will continue to enjoy coming to Frankfort each year at the beautiful Lakeside Park Facility, and are changing the sale to a spring event! We look forward to seeing you in the spring for the 2020 Bluegrass Performance Invitational in Frankfort KY, June 5-6, 2020. Performance makes the difference
The host farms of the BPI are all multiple time finalists and winners of multiple central performance tests across the country. Each one is well established and successfully following breeding strategies that succeed. In inviting performance test participants from central performance tests, the hosts intend to gather a group of superior goats for sale at the BPI Sale every year. The consignors are selected from the tests because they have shown that performance matters to their programs.
Kentucky is a great location to encourage participation from across the country
While performance-testing goat-breeders are familiar with traveling, having the event at a location which enables breeders to easily participate helps both buyers and sellers minimize their driving time and maximize the quality and variety of goats on offer at the sale.
